SHAH ALAM – There Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin says that no official discussions took place between Umno and Pas, and had no intentions of joining hands for 15th General Election (GE15).

In a statement, he said Pas stands firms with their plan to contest under PN.

He said this was based on the explanation given by Islamist party to the PN supreme council meeting which Muhyiddin chaired.

“The discussion was informal and did not involve the grassroots of the party.

“No progress was made from this discussion after Umno made a stand not to cooperate with Pas in GE15,” he said.

He also said the council made a resolution to focus on efforts in preserving the rights of the people especially those from the low-income groups.

In their mission to help lighten the burden of the people, he said that PN will direct all of its machinery to implement the Prihatin Rakyat programme across the country so that relief aid will be distributed to those in need.

“The meeting took note that the B40 group has increased to the B60 group and provision of assistance for these low-income groups must be given focus by the government,” he said.
