MELAKA - Preparations for Malaysia Day 2022 celebration on Sept 16 at the Independence Declaration Memorial Square in Banda Hilir here is 40 per cent complete.

Melaka State Secretary Datuk Zaidi Johari said the rehearsal for the celebration would be held on Sept 13.

"So far, preparations for the Malaysia Day 2022 celebration are going smoothly and it involves various government agencies and departments," he told reporters here today.

More than 2,000 parking spaces will be made available near the celebration venue, including Dataran Pahlawan, Menara Taming Sari and Pahlawan Walk, he said.

He said Panorama Melaka would also provide shuttle bus service in certain areas to facilitate visitors to the celebration site in an effort to reduce traffic congestion that may occur before and after the celebration.

Zaidi said no route or road would be closed during the celebration as it would be held at no vehicle access area.

"Visitors are advised to turn up early to avoid congestion as well as wear their face mask,” he said.

‘Konsert Rakyat’ will be held for an hour until midnight and will feature renowned artistes such as Datuk M. Nasir, Ernie Zakri, Misha Omar and Liza Hanim. - BERNAMA
