Make sure election manifestos are clear, pragmatic and simple, analyst tell political parties

National Council of Professors Senior Fellow Jeniri Amir said the manifesto must be specific, pragmatic and realistic.
"Public would evaluate how the political party drafted their strategies in facing the country's economic issue, not only to ensure the economic development moves forward but how they would make strategic steps post Covid-19.
"Other than that, they have to overcome cost of living that keeps rising and how the government could pull foreign investors. However, this is could only be done if there political stability existed," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Sunday.
Jeniri said political parties need to state the initiatives to be implemented including job opportunities and reducing unemployment within youths.
He said fresh graduates want better job opportunities to secure their future as well as purchasing affordable homes.

As for voters, he said political parties need to unite their machinery.
"What is most important is their campaign strategy, not only the traditional campaign but through social media," he said.
Jeniri said the manifesto should not necessarily be a 'thick' book as done by Pakatan Harapan (PH) and advised them to keep it simple and focused.
"We need a manifesto that is pragmatic, realistic and achievable within a certain time. This needs to be concretely and clearly explained through the main fields that would become the focus of the government if they were given power.
"Don't expect the manifesto to be set in stone. those written down on the manifesto is a promise that must be fulfilled. If not it will bring doubt to the people," he said.
