Split Kota Belud Parliamentary seats into two, urges Upko

KOTA BELUD - A party in Sabah has asked for the Kota Belud Parliamentary seat to be split into two.

United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) Vice President Ewon Benedick said the proposal could be carried out in 2025 during electoral map review.

He further said the proposal was in line with the federal government's commitment to return 35 per cent of total parliament seats to Sabah and Sarawak.

"Upko suggests the Kota Belud Parliament to be split into two - Kadamaian and Kota Belud.

"I agree with the steps to regain the 35 per cent Parliamentary seats as raised in the Special Council on the Malaysia Agreement (MKMA63) chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently," he said after attending the Kota Belud Upko meeting, here.
