PETALING JAYA - Urban poverty, ageing population, income inequality are some of the problems plaguing Kampung Tunku folks, said its assemblyman DAP Lim Yi Wei.

SS1 and SS3, she said are designated for ex-civil servants with high ranking positions while other areas are mostly filled with lower income group.

“Kampung Tunku is placed where social inequality is quite high. Why is that so? Because in certain areas such as SS1 and SS3, they are designated as quarters for ex-civil servants and some of them are really high ranked like ex-general or ex-chairman.

“Then we have the poor segment where some have migrated from other states, so that is the main issue here - urban poverty,” she told Sinar Daily.

The aging population issue also needs to be tackled as majority of them are 40 and above. She is looking at building more ramps to cross road safely and to set up push button crosswalk for pedestrian crossing.

She said it is also an old neighbourhood and the infrastructure needs maintenance with better badminton courts and playground equipment and the drainage needs to be upgraded.

The Selangor state has also launched its Selangor Legal Aid services to handle legal aid and mental health.

As for Budget 2023, she hopes to see bigger healthcare budget as the nation reports more cases of suicides.
