KOTA BHARU - A woman has been remanded for seven days beginning today for allegedly abusing her son in March.

Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud said the 36-year-old woman was arrested in Kok Lanas here yesterday after a police report was lodged by her ex-husband on March 10.

He said that the father of the child, 8, had been contacted by the ex-wife’s boyfriend, who told him that his son had been abused by his mother.

"The man had lived with his wife along with two of their children in Tampin, Negeri Sembilan, but after they divorced in 2020, the wife and the son lived in Kota Bharu, while their daughter lived with the father.

"The victim has been taken to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital and has received outpatient treatment and will be handed over to the Social Welfare Department for further action,” he said in a statement today.
