SHAH ALAM - Umno and Pas Selangor are in a state of preparedness if the State Legislative Assembly is dissolved to face the 15th General Election (GE15).

Umno Selangor Information Chief Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Bakri said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s refusal to dissolve the state assembly in the near future was proof that Pakatan Harapan was not ready to face upcoming polls.

He said the flooding problem, expected to occur in the state soon, was a way for the PH government to “cover the eyes of the people” and divert their attention from GE15.

"In Selangor we are aware that PH is still in a state of confusion and bogged down by internal problems, perhaps due to the fact that they are not ready to hold GE15 in the near future.

"To obscure the eyes of the people, they diverted the attention from GE15 to the floods.

"The people of Selangor themselves have been able to judge the current PH government and will change it in GE15 soon," he told Sinar today.

Meanwhile, Selangor Pas Secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said their political machinery has been preparing to face GE15 since June.

He added that they were continuously updating and improving themselves from time to time to face the polls.

He added that the Pas Selangor election machinery will also be launched by its deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man next month.

"If Umno is urging Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to dissolve the Parliament early, we in Selangor are ready. It is up to him to choose and decide on a date.

"Pas Selangor is confident that our Prime Minister is mature enough to choose an appropriate date taking into account all possibilities without harming Keluarga Malaysia under his leadership," he said.

However, the Selangor Menteri Besar’s political secretary Juwairiya Zulkifli disagreed that not agree with the dissolution of Parliament and state assembly would interfere with the government's preparations to deal with the floods in November.

She said the government should focus on the current situation and not force the people to go out to vote if floods hit the state.

"The government machinery is fully focused on (dealing with) floods, so how at the same time are we expected or forced to go out to vote?

"This is not fair to the people and I think the government's focus has run away from what it should be, which us to look at the current situation.

"The people are worried, the central government has a choice, why do they want to force the people (to go vote when they) are stuck in a disaster," she said.

On Saturday, Ismail Sabri hinted that GE15 will be held in the near future.

He had also said that will meet 'Umno’s Top Five' soon to discuss on the date of GE15.
