BELURAN - The proposal to limit the term of Sabah’s Chief Minister tenure to two terms will be proposed to the Sabah State Assembly.
Sabah chief minister, Datuk Hajiji Noor said Sabah's exco had essentially approved the proposal to limit the post to two terms.
He said that it will be brought to the next Sabah State Assembly if the people and excos agree to amend the state constitution.
"This is because limiting the term of chief minister involves legal matters, and the state constitution needs to be amended through the Sabah State Assembly.
"This proposal is another initiative brought by the GRS-BN government," he said at the Beluran GRS Tour Programme in Dataran Telupid, here, today.
Hajiji,the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman said the coalition of multiracial parties and religious beliefs is a platform to bring Sabahan leaders together to fight for Sabah's rights and interests.
"We will not compromise in fighting and claiming Sabah's rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63)", he said.
In the meantime, Hajiji called for the GRS machinery to be activated in all areas to face the 15th General Election (GE15).
"The GRS army must come down to the villages to shed light on the goals and struggles of GRS," he said.
In this regard, he asked the people in Beluran to ensure the candidates chosen to represent GRS will win the Beluran Parliamentary seat in GE15.
Also present were Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili; United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia; Beluran MP and Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.
