PUTRAJAYA - Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says if it is up to him and his party when to hold the 15th General Election (GE15) but there was no harm in waiting for a few more months to deal with pressing issues.

"We can wait," he told reporters when asked if he would challenge Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to decide once and for all the date for GE15.

“There is no point in challenging the prime minister as I used to hold the same post and I know what the constitution says.

"Any decision to dissolve the Parliament by Agong must be agreed upon by the Cabinet, not the prime minister so if I challenge him and the majority of the Cabinet agree with him, it would be a different matter,” he told reporters at the Bersatu 16th Anniversary Celebration here, today.

Meanwhile, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said to uplift Muhyiddin's leadership there must be a will to clear kleptocracy and corrupt practices in the country.

However, Faizal said he is worried there will be individuals who would second-guess the objective of the party which is to uplift the fate of the people and uplift the nation.

“Our party is a noble party, a party that will elevate the nation, religion and country so don't ruin it because of greed,” he said in his speech today.
