GE15: Warisan aims to win 14 Parliamentary seats in Sabah

The 14 areas also include critical seats in Kimanis, Sipatang, Sandakan, Kudat and Keningau

KOTA KINABALU - Warisan aims to win 14 of the 25 Parliamentary seats in Sabah in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Its Vice President Terrence Siambun said his party wants the seven Parliamentary seats belonging to Warisan to be defended in the elections.

The seven seats are Semporna, Penampang, Kota Belud, Sepanggar, Papar, Kalabakan and Labuan.

"We are also reclaiming Lahad Datu and Batu Sapi and have identified five critical Sabah Parliamentary seats that Warisan must win.

"It is not because of the ethnic or religious composition of the voters there, but its significance in terms of history, dignity and socio-economics for Sabah," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Kimanis is one of the critical areas with natural gas but it is being channeled out and enjoyed by others while in the Sipitang area, he said the Sabah Forest Industries (SFI) company is the pride of the state in the timber industry but he claimed Umno destroyed the timber during Umno's administration.

"Sandakan is the earliest international trade centre and helped open the state to the outside world such as Hong Kong and China. Keningau and Tambunan consist of Bajau or Suluk," he said.

While Kudat is the future trade and business centre in Sabah.

"These five areas shaped Sabah's identity in terms of ability, courage and dignity and this will not be understood by the leaders of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah who use an unfixed politics approach (politik lalang) and just obey any coalition in power in Putrajaya at this time," he said.

He also said that Sabah Umno's decision to contest 13 parliamentary seats including those currently held by Bersatu while the remaining 12 seats will be divided among GRS also gives an idea of how Sabah will be thrown back to the era before GE14.

"That is where the agenda of domination, 'divide and rule' and corruption which is the main reason Sabah was declared by the World Bank in 2010 as the poorest state in Malaysia, it will be back to haunt us all.

"Although there will be a clash between Umno, BN and GRS over hot seats in GE15, the involvement of GRS is no longer meaningful because this coalition is seen as weak when facing Umno, " he said.
