REMBAU - Umno's intentions for the 15th General Election (GE15) to be held immediately does not mean the party wants to have elections during the flood season.

Umno Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the world's climate has changed and not a single person knows whether the flood will happen at the time or not.

"If it’s like last year, the flood occurred from January to March. The weather has changed, the world's climate has changed.

"How would the opposition know it would flood at that time? Do they have kasyaf knowledge?

"If there was a flood, it would not affect the whole country. If there is a flood in Kelantan, the areas involved could delay their votes as long as it’s within 60 days of the Parliament dissolving," he said.

He said this after he officiated the Makmur Smallholders Council and Presentation of Commercial Replanting Dividend (TSK) Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) Negeri Sembilan Level 2022 at Rembau Univesiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), here, on Thursday.

Also present was Risda Chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Mohd Sharif.

Mohamad who was the Rantau State Assemblyman said the Election Commission (EC) had the power to delay the voting process if they were compromised by floods.

He said the voting box for the area could be locked and when the floods subside the voting day could proceed.

"Many have said what do we do if there is a flood? There is no issue because the EC has power.

"But nobody wants it to be done during a flood. The opposition is just twisting BN's words.

"We are humans too. We would be the first to come down if there is a flood. Don't think that we don't care.

He commented on the Umno Supreme Working Council meeting that was scheduled to be done tomorrow and said there was no specific agenda for the meeting.

"I will table the report from my management committee regarding the preparation of the party. There are 53 sections that have been identified as being in a less secure state," he said.

He said regarding Umno and Pas's latest development there were no information regarding a discussion between both party presidents.

"Maybe in the Political Bureau and Top 5 meeting would explain what was discussed in the meeting of the two," he said.
