PORT DICKSON - Police have denied a kidnapping attempt incident at Kampung Paya, here, which was posted by a Facebook user on Wednesday.

Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed said checks found that the post had been taken down until now and there was no police reports received over the incident that went viral.

"Checks was also done on a brown coloured Proton Saga that was seen in the video uploaded by the Facebook user.

"Police found that the owner of the vehicle was a 60-year old woman and the car was rented to a 27-year old man," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Aidi said the Proton Saga vehicle was found in Melaka and the person who rented the car did not have any past records.

He said further investigations showed that the vehicle did not move in Port Dickson as claimed in the Facebook post.

Aidi advised the public to be vigilant before sharing or uploading any news that were not authentic and could cause fear among the public.
