Ebit Lew's case: Photo of penis, sexual messages sent to Firdaus Wong's WhatsApp

TENOM - Independent preacher Firdaus Wong told the magistrate's court today that he received a photo of a penis and screenshots of sexual messages linked to a female victim in Ebit Lew's sexual harassment case.

The photos, he said were from Mohd Fairuz Abu who was the first prosecution witness in Lew's trial which had entered the fourth day.

Wong or his full name Firdaus Wong Hai Hung, 39, who was the third witness explained that the photos sent by Fairuz was shared to the latter by the victim in the case whose identity could not be revealed.

"After Fairuz told me that the complainant received such messages and obscene photos from Ebit Lew, he then shared it with me," he said.

He added that he knew Fairuz through a social media programme on June 2, last year.

Asked by deputy public prosecutor Zahida Zakaria if he remembered what photos did he receive, Wong said there was a photo of male genitals and screenshots of sexual messages.

Firdaus then testified that upon receiving the photos from Fairuz, he downloaded it and the photos were automatically saved to his phone.

Earlier, the Multiracial Reverted Muslims (MRM) president was questioned on the types of aids the non-governmental organisation provided to the complainant and her husband.

"We at MRM had given assistance to the complainant by giving a flight ticket as well as accommodation for her and her husband other than offering other services such as legal, counselling, Islamic therapy among others," he said.

Elaborating on the flight schedule and accomodation, the witness said it was a return ticket for the couple from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur.

He said MRM also provided counselling for the couple and the Islamic therapy was for the complainant to help her recover from her traumatic experience.

The trial before magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani continues on Dec 20.

Lew or his real name Ebit Irawan Ibrahim faces 11 charges involving sexual harassment under Section 509 of the Penal Code among which he was accused of insulting the modesty of a woman by sending obscene photos and words to the victim's phone number via the WhatsApp application.

He was represented by lawyers Ram Singh, Kamarudin Mohmad Chinki, Timothy Daut, Kimberly Ye Wanchuin and Chen Wen Jye.

Besides Zahida, the prosecution was also conducted by deputy public prosecutors Nor Azizah Mohamad, Muhammad Ilmami Ahmad, Adibah Saiful Bahri and Nur Masrin Amalia.
