Politically Frank: Floods are coming but mitigation projects remain slow, says exco

In an interview with Sinar Daily's Politically Frank, he said JPS have not been doing its work properly even before the last massive flood end of 2021.
“Even though the Selangor government allocated some allocations for them to fix pumphouses and clean the monsoon drains, so much work was supposed to be done in 2020 but even by 2021, nothing was completed,” he said.
Ganabitirau said Taman Sri Muda was not the only area badly affected by floods.
Kampung Bukit Lanchong with 1,700 homes, Taman Alam Mega with 700 homes and Kampung Baru Hicom with more than 1,000 houses were also affected.
“So many housing estates along Jalan Bukit Kemuning were also affected by the massive floods,” he said.
He said several meetings have been held with authorities like JPS and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) as communication with the officers is crucial.
Other than Taman Sri Muda, Klang, Puchong, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, Sepang and Petaling are also flood-prone areas.
However, he said the progress to mitigate floods have been slow.
“In many areas, the work progress is so slow. The federal and state government keep telling us that we are going to face the monsoon soon but work progress is slow.
“The level of progress even if you see it yourself, I’m not very satisfied,” he said.
