Relatable: KPWKM should work with state govt’ to attend to the needs of women, says DAP assemblyman

She said in order for the Wanita Bangkit programme to be successful, a community-based approach is needed to set up councils to provide information for the group.
“As a state assembly person, I have three counselors under my care and a village chief with 15 Village Community Management Council (MPKK) so it has to be very community based,” she said as a panelist during Sinar Daily’s talk show, Relatable dubbed “Budget 2023: What Women Want”.
Commenting further, she said the community leaders play an important role to provide such channels for women to get information.
“The (community) leaders whether they are from religious houses or NGOs need to actively set up councils and explain to women what's going on or how to apply,” she said.
Among the other initiatives that is worth exploring or encouraging is the household economy to provide a ‘push’ for the housewife to enhance their skills, she said.
“For example, some women have to be housewives or choose to be housewives but sometimes they can also tailor or crochet.
“A lot of the time the women I encounter need a little ‘push' in terms of funding or skills, some of them cook very well but they don't know how to take good photos,” she said.
Therefore, she said the matter would be really interesting to look into as many people might not have gotten their job back and would like to pursue freelancing.
