PUTRAJAYA - Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has left the Finance Ministry and heading towards the Parliament for the tabling of the 2023 Budget.

Clad in a blue Baju Melayu, Zafrul was seen holding a black envelope with silver embroidery believed to be the 2023 Budget speech text.

Before he left, there was du’a recitation led by the ministry’s religious affairs officer Mohamad Zukrillah Ismail at the lobby.

Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, Deputy Finance Minister II Datuk Yamani Hafez Musa and the ministry senior officers were also there.

This was the third time Zafrul would table the budget after the 2022 and 2021 Budget.

Zafrul left in a black multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at 2.28pm.

Previously, the government emphasised that the people's interest, business, economy and services should be given priority and be the focus in the 2023 Budget.

Continuous aid to the B40 group would also be given attention to in the budget where the group was expected to face the bitter challenge of the economy next year.
