KUALA LUMPUR – The Dewan Rakyat erupts in laughter when Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz stumbles upon his words during Budget 2023 presentation earlier today.

When referring to the hearts of the people in the speech text, instead of saying "rakyat" (people), he unintentionally said "syarikat" (company).

“In completing the document, the Finance Ministry (MOF) went throughout the country and held over 200 discussions, reviewing 250 memorandums and over 12,000 public suggestions.

"As a result, we developed a complete document which represented the hearts of the company (syarikat)... the people (rakyat)," he said.

Upon the stumble of words, the Dewan Rakyat erupted in laughter.

Tengku Zafrul, clad in a blue Baju Melayu started to table the budget at 4.10pm.

The budget themed Strengthening Recovery and Facilitating Reforms towards Sustainability of Economic Resilience and Wellbeing of Keluarga Malaysia had four core focuses which were wellbeing of the people, business continuity, economic prosperity and efficiency of government services.
