PARIT BUNTAR - The decision on whether Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will contest the Tambun Parliamentary seat in the coming elections will be announced on Oct 29.

Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof said Anwar will announce his decision during the PH Convention at Ipoh International Convention Center (IICC).

Mujahid said, in the same ceremony, the distribution of seats involving PH component parties - PKR, DAP, Amanah and Pertubuhan Kinabalu Progresif Bersatu (UPKO) nationwide will also be announced.

"There is nothing yet (the decision to contest in Tambun). That will be decided later on October 29 because one of the events is to announce the distribution of seats," he said when met by reporters at Himpunan Harapan Perak Bangkit at the Tanjung Piandang Night Market site here on Saturday.

The Parit Buntar MP added it would be an honour to the state if the opposition leader were to contests in Perak. "I am confident that Anwar's stature and candidacy can add value to PH in Perak," he said.

Last August, Anwar, the Port Dickson MP, did not rule out the possibility of running for the Tambun Parliamentary seat in GE15, which is currently held by Bersatu Deputy President Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

Meanwhile, Mujahid said PH was organising various nationwide programmes and activities to boost momentum as elections may be held anytime soon.

"Even if we say we don't want elections (this year), we still make need to get going and prepare," he said.
