'Will make an announcement at 3pm' PM tells media reps

SHAH ALAM - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is expected to make a special announcement at 3pm today.

He arrived at the Prime Minister's Office 1.35pm and was accompanied by his officers and security escorts.

He slowed his vehicle while passing media personnel waiting for updates on the dissolution of Parliament to which Ismail Sabri replied: "At 3 o'clock, I will make an announcement."

Even though the contents of the special announcement are yet to be known but it is said to be linked to the dissolution of the Parliament to make way for the 15th General Elections.

Bernama TV in its Facebook said the special announcement at 3pm will also be shown on Astro 502, myFreeview 121, unifi TV 631, Facebook Live and Bemama TV YouTube channel.

Ismail Sabri is expected to meet his Cabinet and Umno supreme council to inform them of his meeting with the King.

It is also understood that Istana Negara will be issuing an official statement on the King's decision to allow the dissolution of the Parliament.

The scenario brings back the nation to the days of 1999 when Parliament was dissolved after the budget was tabled on Oct 29.

The then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had announced the dissolution of Parliament on Nov 10, 1999.
