KOTA KINABALU - Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin describes the party’s cooperation under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Barisan Nasional (BN) umbrella as a special situation.

He said even though they were not in the same direction at the federal level, in Sabah, it was different as there was an understanding between the parties in the state.

"We discussed on this matter and Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (Sabah Chief Minister) had explained that the situation was unusual in Sabah because that is why a state government is formed, with a cooperation and understanding between parties even though at the federal level, we are not on the same direction.

"However, this situation is unusual, there is a special condition, we accept that there are differences in Sabah and they could cooperate," he said after attending a meeting with Sabah Bersatu at the Bersatu headquarters in Alam Mesra, on Tuesday.

Considering the situation, Muhyiddin said it was up to Hajiji as the GRS chairman and Bersatu Executive Body chief to divide the seats.

Asked regarding the division of seats between GRS-BN Muhyiddin said the matter was not decided yet and discussions still needed to be held.

"It has not been decided yet as it needs to be discussed and I leave it to Hajiji as GRS chairman to decide," he said.
