KOTA KINABALU - Warisan aims to make the Kimanis the 'ground zero' to defend and uphole Sabah's oil and gas.

Potential candidate for Kimanis Parliament seat Dr Daud Yusof said Kimanis citizens especially the youth would have a place to push the Federal government and Petronas for a fairer distribution to Sabah.

"Kimanis is a critical area that must be won by Warisan. For years Sabah's oil and gas was looted and channeled out through this district.

"I realise Warisan supreme leadership wants to make Kimanis the ground zero to uphold Sabah's rights because the oil and gas industry are located in Kimanis and Sipitang," he said in a statement on Sunday.

The Bongawan Assemblyman said the party's machinery must focus and give their commitment to take back the Kimanis Parliament from Umno.

"If we wanted to show the Federal government and the people of Sabah that Warisan is serious in defending Sabah's rights we must give full commitment and focus in taking back the Kimanis Parliament.

"Warisan's victory in the Kimanis Parliament is a start towards the much more challenging struggle in the Parliament and Federal because the data, statistics and aspirations regarding Sabah's oil and gas issue will be upheld there," he said.

On Saturday, Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal announced Daud as the potential candidate for Kimanis Parliament in the 15th General Election (GE15).
