SHAH ALAM - There is nothing for me to worry about since we are transparent, caretaker senior education minister Datuk Seri Dr Radzi Jidin said on the allegations which relate the ministry to embezzlement issues.

The alleged embezzlements were said to be related to contracts in regard to the supply of cooked food and the cleanliness of buildings and areas under the ministry.

“We in the Education Ministry are transparent.

“When I received the message saying that I was involved in embezzlement, I informed the secretary-general to lodge a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) immediately to investigate this matter.

“I am very open and there is nothing for me to worry about,” he said during a press conference after he officiated the Reading Progress Initiative for Education Ministry’s schools at Mardhiyyah Hotel and Suites, here, this morning.

He further said it was important for this to be done in order to maintain the good image of the ministry.

He added that the message from the ministry since he took over was that every cent of money from the people must be returned to them.

He said only then would it be possible for the people to build trust and work together for a better education.

Yesterday, the Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof was asked to lodge a report to the MACC over allegations of embezzlement claimed to have taken place in the ministry.

The order was made following a video recording sent by an individual identified as Zaharin Yassin, claimed to have received a complaint of embezzlement related to Letters of Acceptance (SST) for contracts with regard to the supply of cooked food and the cleanliness of buildings and areas.
