SHAH ALAM - Employees should manage their time wisely when they work from home to strike a balance in productivity.

In order to achieve this, the help from the management and employers were required.

Public health expert Dr Hematram Yadav said the management has to decide how to increase productivity while working on a hybrid basis.

“They need to decide what they can do when working from home and what they actually need to do when they are at the workplace.

“At home, workers need to organise their schedules and the management has to help them. Measures need to be taken at home and office to ensure productivity,” he said.

In his response to whether working from home would contribute to developing health issues, he said it was not related as employees could still get sick even though they did not work from home.

Yadav further added that if employees already possessed the non-communicable disease regardless of working from home or from the office, the condition will still take place.

Previously caretaker Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said the implementation of the work-from-home policy during the Covid-19 pandemic has limited activities and productivity of the employees.

Due to the fact, employees' level of fitness has taken a toll on them.

According to the Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) statistics in 2021, 16,906 contributors became disabled or died due to non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, or diabetes.

Hence, the organisation encouraged employees to take part in a free health screening programme to ensure they were always in a good shape.
