KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor will get the information and explanation from the Election Commission (EC) regarding the sudden surge in the number of voters in the state for the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said that even though the registration involving Undi18 was done automatically, there was a need for an explanation from EC about the matter.

"We will find out the information and briefings from the EC director as soon as possible.

“We want to know about the total number as some parties are worried due to the sudden surge.

"We will make our comments after receiving the information and briefings from the EC director," he said to reporters after officiating the Kolej Teknologi Yayasan Sabah Convocation Ceremony, at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here, on Thursday.

He said he was aware there were a few political personalities who stated their concerns about the sudden surge of automatically registered voters.

"Further explanation is needed from the EC because the system now registers a voter automatically after the age of 18.

"We don't know, there may be some of our people who were over 18 or 21-years-old that didn't register and there may be some that I can't say until further explanation and clarification is received from the parties involved," he said.
