‘Call me shameless, forced to lick my own spit’, Dr M ready to meet Anwar

SHAH ALAM - Pejuang chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is ready to meet his former enemies including Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a bid to save the country.

Dr Mahathir said he had multiple times read about himself being portrayed as somebody who “would shamelessly come forward to enemies when putting together a political strategy.”

He said that it would not bother him if the people called him shameless or forced to lick his own spit.

“An example that is frequently used is how I am “willing to go all the way to meet Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in court before the election in 2018 to get his support.”

“This is true. For me, personal feelings, arrogance, ego, and self-interest have no place in a battle especially when it involves religion, nation and land.”

He explained that when he went to meet Anwar in court before the previous election, the main thing on his mind was how to stop Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his Umno-BN led government from remaining in power.

“At that time, the whole world reported tens of billions of citizens’ money was robbed by Najib.

“And if Najib and his government were not stopped, their treachery would not be unburied and they would be able to continue to rob.”

He opined that politics at the moment was also crystal clear – if the opposition did not unite and contest on the same stage, Najib and his peers would stay in charge.

“So the choice I had to make was also very easy - to defeat the evil that is destroying the country,” he figured.

He admitted that he needed to work with his past enemies whom he believed also agreed on the need to stop the evil force.

“That’s why I’m ready to meet up with Anwar because I believe that he also thinks what I’m thinking about.

“If I had to take the first step, I’d do it.

“What matters is our goal to prevent the disaster of those who are jeopardising the nation is achieved.

“Najib’s fall showed that we had done something that led to the path of success," he said.
