HULU TERENGGANU - Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied speculation that he would not contest the Bagan Datuk Parliamentary seat he held for the past four terms in the 15th general elections (GE15).

The Umno president said he did not know the source of the speculation

"I have no intention of doing so (stop competing)," he told reporters after the launch of Barisan Nasional GE15 machinery at ABM Jenagor Hall, here today.

Also present were Umno Vice President and caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Terengganu BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said.

Zahid, the BN Chairman further said it was crucial for BN to bring forward a winnable candidate to form a stable government.

"This includes our determination to get 70 per cent of new faces to contest the Parliamentary and state seats," he said.

Sinar Harian on Friday reported that Zahid will not contest the Bagan Datuk Parliamentary seat he held for the past four terms in GE15.

It reported that his place will be replaced by either his daughter, Nurul Hidayah or his right-hand man.
