Hasni hints he may not be contesting at Pontian seat

"I do not rule out the possibility of being considered by the (Umno) leadership to be listed as contesting the Pontian Parliamentary seat.
"For me, what is important is the place where a candidate is sent to compete, he must win so we put a candidate who has great potential to win," he said.
The former Johor menteri besar said this to reporters after officiating the opening of the new Al-Ikhlas Gadjet branch at Larkin Sentral here on Saturday.
Previously, there were speculations that Hasni may run for the Pontian Parliamentary seat to replace incumbent Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan who was said to be running for Simpang Renggam seat.
But the proposal was said not 'approval' by the party leadership. Hasni said the act of placing external candidates was not only for the benefit of an individual but for the well-being and prosperity of the people.
Hasni said the state is strategising to capture at least 16 to 17 parliamentary seats in GE15.
Meanwhile, Hasni said his party did not face any problem of putting winnable candidates at Pagoh Parliamentary seat where the incumbent is Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"Umno have enough leaders and I don't see any problem in fielding a candidate who can win in the Pagoh Parliament. In fact, the BN machinery at all levels is being mobilised to strengthen the campaign," he said.
