KUALA LUMPUR - Batik Air, formerly known as Malindo Air, is mounting extra flights for its domestic destinations departing from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang and KL International Airport (KLIA) to cater greater demand during the coming general election.

In a statement today, the airlines said it is adding 18 daily flights from November 5-23 to destinations such as Kuala Terengganu, Johor Bahru, Kota Bharu, Langkawi, Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

Batik Air chief executive officer Captain Mushafiz Mustafa Bakri said the additional flights are made following the announcement of the polling date for the 15th General Election to ease Malaysians to return to their hometowns to cast their votes.

"We are expecting a surge in flight demand, and we hope our extra flights will provide convenience to Malaysians as well as to politicians during the campaigning period.

"We urge travellers to plan ahead for their travel and take advantage of the extra flights which are already available now for booking," he said.
