Not impossible for PN to capture Pahang
KUANTAN - Perikatan Nasional (PN) believes that it is not impossible to capture Pahang in the 15th General Election (GE15) on 19 November.
Pahang PN chairman Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah said he was confident after they saw the strength of the coalition and the unity between the component parties.
"Some have asked if PN can win in Pahang? I said Bersatu has no seats and we have no seats to win in the state assembly (State Legislative Assembly) but there were eight state assembly seats in the last election.
"If I am not mistaken, Pas almost won 11 or more seats, which includes Semambu state assembly in the Indera Mahkota Parliament.
“If you add the seats that PAS narrowly lost, PN can lead Pahang," he said when speaking at the launch of the GE15’s PN Parliamentary P84 Paya Besar machinery at the Dewan D'Persada Baroqah here on Thursday night.
Saifuddin also officiated the launch of the GE15 PN Paya Besar Parliamentary machinery which was also attended by Pahang Pas Commissioner Rosli Abdul Jabar and representatives from Gerakan.
Meanwhile, he also promised a clean government with integrity if he could form a government in GE15.
Saifuddin said only PN could raise and guarantee a corruption-free government.
"What we promise is a government with integrity at the federal and state levels. We also want to be a clean (government)," he said.
He explained that so far none of the Pas leaders who govern the state in either Kelantan or Terengganu were involved in corruption issues.
He added that the ministers from Pas who were also members of the cabinet had no problems and carried out their duties well.
"Pahang had a water issue with the federal government since the BN era, there is a debt, seven years ago.
“It has not been resolved and the Minister in charge of water (Minister of Environment and Water) has changed.
“This issue dragged on when ministers from BN, then from Pakatan Harapan (PH), then PN. Following this, Tuan Ibrahim (Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man) who became the minister in charge of water at this point helped settle the Pahang government's debt with the Federation.
"So, don't look at that person wearing a turban, a hat, a beard, we think they are not good at governing, but we need to see whether they are corrupt or not, whether they have integrity or not," he stressed.
