SIBU - The largest Dayak non-governmental organisation Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) has been asked to organise regular roundtable brainstorming sessions to find amicable solutions to issues affecting the community.

Making the call, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said SDNU could then relay its findings to the government for further action.

He said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is ever willing to listen to constructive feedback on its policies, programmes and implement strategies that can benefit the people and the state.

"We need constructive feedback on GPS policies, programmes and its implementation strategy. Besaup meh kitai ngintu Sarawak (Let us work together in taking care of Sarawak),” he said during SDNU's 36th Triennial General Assembly dinner here, last night.

He stressed that it would be up to Dayak-based non-governmental organisations such as SDNU to engage closely with the government.

He said the GPS government under the leadership of Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg would not be able to accomplish the objective of Sarawak becoming a developed region and a high income society by 2030 without continuous support and understanding from the people including the Dayaks.

"We are all looking forward to have better income and higher standard of living by 2030 through his leadership but he will definitely need a united, stable and harmonious Sarawak plus the total support of the people to achieve the goal,” said Uggah, who also appealed to the Dayaks to continue giving their undivided support to the government.

According Uggah the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) objective was for the state to become a developed region and a high income society by 2030 driven by data and innovations where one of the pillars of the strategy was inclusivity.

"There is something for everyone in it. As such, all these dayak NGOs, they will do the community a great service by having a good knowledge of the scope and opportunities under the PCDS 2030,” he stressed.
