Umno: Arau gets fresh face, Zahida replaces Zahidi in Padang Besar

KUALA LUMPUR - Major overhaul in Perlis as both Umno incumbents dropped for new faces for the 15th General Election (GE15).

Federal Territories Caretaker Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has been dropped from after holding Arau seat since 1986 for four terms.

He is replaced by former Umno Arau deputy division chief Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman as Arau candidate for GE15.

Caretaker deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin will also not be defending the Padang Besar seat after two terms.

Zahid will be replaced by Puteri Umno Chief Zahida Zarik Khan.

This will be Zahida’s first time contesting in a general election.

Meanwhile, famous Islamic preacher Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya will contest in Kangar. He will be up against its incumbent PKR’s Amin Ahmad and PN’s candidate Zakri Hassan.
