SHAH ALAM - Kuala Nerus incumbent MP Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said he was ready to help Barisan Nasional (BN) to win the 15th General Election.

The former Pas leader said this was to ensure that Pakatan Harapan's (PH) threat to Muslims and the country be stopped.

"I am ready to help BN win GE15 to ensure PH's threat to the people and Muslims as well as the country is stopped," he told Sinar Daily today.

Khairuddin said this when asked if he would defend the Kuala Nerus parliamentary seat under a BN, a question which he neither confirmed or denied it.

When asked if he was in negotiations with BN's top leadership, he said it was question for the media to ask BN or Umno themselves.

"My focus is to continue to serve the people of Kuala Nerus and campaign for healthy politics, as well as a united ummah to support BN to stop PH from regaining power," he said.

Yesterday, BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced the coalition's GE15 parliamentary candidates who will be contesting in the Peninsula but left out five seats including Kuala Nerus.

There has been no updates as of now on who will contest in Kuala Nerus.

Khairuddin since GE14 back in 2018 has been vocal about uniting Umno and Pas as well as Bersatu under Muafakat Nasional coalition, promoting a united Islamic front.

However, Umno has refused to corporate with Bersatu and has since accused Bersatu of being traitors to the people's mandate and brains behind the Sheraton Move back in 2020 which saw the fall of the PH government.

In March this year, Khairuddin, who was previously Pas Syura Ulama Council secretary, quit the Pas.

He refused to reveal the reasons behind his move to quit the Islamic party, apart from insisting that he would become an Independent MP.
