GE15: Mahathir stays put in Langkawi, Khairuddin to fight in Titiwangsa

BANGI - Pejuang's Khairuddin Abu Hassan will be contesting the Titiwangsa seat against Pakatan Harapan’s Khalid Samad and Barisan Nasional's Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani.

Pejuang chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be contesting in Langkawi.

Party President Mukhriz Mahathir will defend his Jerlun seat while former deputy finance minister Amiruddin Hamzah will be at Kubang Pasu.

Party President Marzuki Yahya will contest in Sungai Petani and Pejuanita chief Datin Che Asmah Ibrahim will be contesting in Sepang.

Its information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamudin will contest in Kuala Kedah.

Ibrahim Ali will be contesting in Rantau Panjang under Pejuang's Kelantan division while Amiruddin Yahaya will be contesting in Temerloh.

The announcement was made at Bangi Convention Centre for Pejuang candidates, today.

Pejuang would contest 120 Parliamentary seats, while the candidates for state seats were expected to be announced tomorrow.

Dr Mahathir, in his speech, said the party only needed 112 seats for victory but "we contest for more than 120 seats, maybe we will not win all but the possibility of us winning is there," he said.

He further told voters that if they did not vote, it meant that they helped Umno win.

Dr Mahathir also said the increase in food price, the fall of ringgit value as well as floods were among the major issues faced by the people in this country, hence there was a need for a change of government and the right leaders to be chosen.

“This is the situation in the country now, we must admit that other countries also have their own issues but not as bad as Malaysia.

“That is why we need to change the government and choose the right people to lead the country.

“I don't see how those who stole money could be a good leader for us,” he added.

He said this in referral to the corruption of Umno, especially by the party’s leaders with alleged corruption scandals and court cases.
