SHAH ALAM - Former top cop Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador who was speculated to contest at the Rembau seat was not in Pejuang candidates list announced earlier.

In a tweet, the party said he was not selected as he is not ready to be involved in politics.

"Former Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador was not one of the GTA candidates as he is not ready to get involved in politics," the party's tweet read.

About two weeks ago, it was reported that the retired top cop was among the latest high-profile names listed as potential election candidates to contest under the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) movement.

Several party members had said that Hamid would be the best candidate for GTA to pit against Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who is said to be eyeing Rembau.

Hamid lives in Rembau and is now active in agriculture in Kampung Panchang.

Pejuang will be contesting 120 Parliamentary seats. It will announce candidates for state seat tomorrow.
