BELURAN - Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee stresses that he is not the opposition candidate but is contesting as a Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate which is part of the government to defend the Beluran parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said this was not the first time the PN logo was being used in Sabah. He said the logo was also used during the state election in 2020 by the candidates in the state cabinet, today.

"All party components in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) except for Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) were PN members.

"There is absolutely no question that I was supposedly the opposition candidate and this is a personal attack which is baseless," he said during a programme in Kampung Muanad 3, here, on Sunday.

The caretaker Agriculture and Food Industry Minister stated his confidence that PN was the right platform to continue to raise the aspirations of the community in Beluran at the national level.

This, he said was based on the achievement record and ability of the elected leader.

"What is important is that the bigger agenda must be highlighted in the area (Beluran) for continued development and to raise the issue on lack of infrastructure and disparity in development allocations which are still happening in rural areas in Beluran.

"The development and progress in Beluran need to continue based on the respective vision and plans as well as the ability of the leaders.

"It does not rely on dirty politics and personal attacks to weaken the opponents," he said.

On the five-cornered clash in the Beluran Parliament, Kiandee described it as a "friendly match" that should be maturely accepted by all parties.

"This also happened in the Ranau Parliament that witnessed Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) candidate contesting with candidates fielded by GRS," he said.

He said the people would make their choice based on the service record and the capabilities of the candidates contesting.

The Beluran parliamentary seat will witness a five-cornered clash with the other candidates being Rowiena Rasid (Warisan), Hausing Samsudin @ Sudin (Pejuang) and Felix Joseph (Pakatan Harapan).
