MELAKA - The country's economy which is described as bland at the moment can be restored if it is well managed.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the PH administration could stop the act of contracts without tenders and the theft of money that should instead be used to help the people at this time.

He said what more important was that continuous efforts to eradicate corruption could be carried out to save the country's economy.

"It's not that I'm really good at it, but when I was the finance minister for eight years, the ringgit was strong.

"Budget is not a deficit, the budget has a surplus, and the budget is balanced," he said during his speech at the Santai Bersama Anak Muda programme at Bukit Beruang here on Monday.

Also present were Hang Tuah Jaya Parliamentary PH candidate Adam Adli Abdul Halim and Ayer Keroh State Assemblyman Kerk Chee Yee.

Anwar added that if PH was given the mandate once again to govern the country, it was certain that its team could save the government's finances billions of ringgit with a more transparent management.
