KUALA NERUS - Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) needs to win to free the country from corruption that continues to become 'cancer' to the country.

Pejuang Kuala Nerus Parliament Candidate Azaha Wahid from Kampung Jeram, Manir said the party needed to win in the 15th General Election (GE15) on Nov 19.

"If the country wants to be free from corruption, we need to have power first, for power, the party (Pejuang) has to win. After winning and we have power, we can take steps to solve the corruption issue.

"I will ensure the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers were from those with integrity and are transparent.

“They will not bow down to any political party to investigate any individuals involved in corruption," he said to Sinar Harian on Monday.

He said corruption would usually occur in the leadership when they gained a position or spot in a party such as becoming minister, people's representative, Menteri Besar and such.

"This group (candidates contesting) should declare their assets earlier before and after the election.

"From there, we can see how their wealth would be contested. If it was seen that extraordinary wealth is achieved after getting a position in government, an investigation should be made," he stated.

Azaha said he was prepared to declare his assets before and after election and he was open to conduct a Rasuah Busters Tag psychometric test.

He believed that it was important for each candidate to contest and have their corruption involvement records reviewed.

"Some of the candidates were involved with corruption but were given the chance to contest in GE15 because they have not been found guilty (punished).

"To me, they have already been accused even though they were not found guilty, the candidate needed to be rejected.

“It is important for the people to state their rights and choose wisely with a candidate that has been involved in corruption or not," he said.

Kuala Nerus Parliament would see a four-corner clash in GE15 between Azaha from Pejuang, Datuk Seri Suhaimi Hashim (Pakatan Harapan), Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (Barisan Nasional) and Datuk Dr Alias Razak (Pas).
