SHAH ALAM - The 15th General Election (GE15) will witness 127 (13.5 percent) female candidates out of the 945 candidates vying for parliamentary seats nationwide, says PantauPRU15 statistics and data.

The number of women candidates recorded for GE15 is the highest compared to GE14 with 10.48 per cent, GE13 (8.98 per cent ) and GE12 with only 8.8 per cent.

According to the data, Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) fielded the most female candidate with 57.6 per cent, followed by Pakatan Harapan (PH) with 19 per cent, Pejuang with 13.8 percent, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GRS) with 13 per cent, Barisan Nasional (12.4 per cent), Warisan (11.6 per cent), Perikatan Nasional (11 per cent) and 19 female independent candidates.

Meanwhile, as for the state legislative assembly seats, it recorded 59 female candidates out of 435 candidates.

The female candidates of all political parties took over 103 parliamentary seats out of 222 seats for GE15.
