KUALA LUMPUR - Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he has declared his assets today to prove his transparency, just like other leaders in the party.

He said that his declaration was delayed as he had to sign a statutory declaration (SD) in front of a lawyer.

"I was away as I was in Johor, I came back this morning to sign the SD," he told the reporters when met at the 'What is with Corruption' event at Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president said he rushed back here at 2am from his campaign venue to sign the SD.

Anwar also urged leaders from other political parties should also declare their assets.

"You must demand declaration of assets by the rich leaders of Pas, Bersatu, they should declare their assets.

"They should have the courage to ask them to declare their assets.

Their decision by the party is a good decision, should declare and then face the public," he said.

Previously, it was reported that almost all leaders from the coalition had declared their assets but Anwar’s declaration had yet to be submitted.

The act of assets declaration was thought to instill public confidence in both election officials and the institutions they serve should the candidate come into office.
