KLANG - Poor drainage and infrastructure are among the cause of floods in Meru, here, say residents.

Suhaimi Shamsuddin from Taman Meru Jaya said poor drainage is one of the main cause of flood all over the years.

"They are developing residentials areas and factories but the drainage system remains the same," he said to Sinar Daily.

Relating to this, he said the future MP's main agenda should be solving the flood issues in Meru.

Muhammad Amiruddin said election should have postponed to next year, instead of holding it during monsoon season.

"They (government) should have postponed the election since people are suffering during this flood season.

"People should be given the first choice, not election," he said.

Despite receiving help from fire rescue department and relevant parties, the residents of Taman Meru Jaya have joined hands to supply food for flood victims.

SM Rosli Md Nor and few other residents were preparing dinner for over 100 flood victims, stating that money to prepare dinner was raised by the residents.

"This is our way to help each other. As of now, we are cooking the third batch, we are providing breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"However, this is insufficient as Meru as hundreds of family. I hope the future MP can give more attention to the flood issues here," he added.
