Thunderstorm warning, heavy rain in 13 states

MetMalaysia issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning involving 13 states, until 9pm, Saturday. Image for illustration purpose.

MetMalaysia said in a statement that the warning was issued due to signs of a thunderstorm with an intensity of rain exceeding 20mm/hour that is close to or expected to occur for more than an hour.
The states include areas in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan.
In Kedah, warnings were issued involving Kota Setar, Yan, Kuala Muda, Kulim and Bandar Baharu as well as Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim in Perak.
Meanwhile, in Pahang, the areas involved are Pekan and Rompin, while in Sarawak the areas affected are Miri (Marudi) and Limbang.
At the same time, warnings of thunderstorms and heavy rain were also issued in the rural areas (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Keningau) as well as the West Coast (Papar) in Sabah.
