SHAH ALAM – Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad criticised the caretaker government for allegedly giving money to the people during election season.

The former premier said during this time, which leads towards the 15th General Election (GE15), it was considered bribery for any candidates to give out money to the public.

“This time around, if we give out money, it is bribery. Those who gave out money before Nov 19, it is considered bribery, to buy votes.

“As a caretaker prime minister, you cannot give out money to the people.

“That is wrong but he did it anyway.

“That is before becoming the prime minister. Once he becomes the prime minister, they will steal the government’s money,” he said.

Although the comments were made towards leaders from Basisan Nasional, Dr Mahathir did not specify who the comments were directed to.

Meanwhile, the former prime minister claimed since the backdoor government was formed in 2020, Malaysia had not been stable.

“They are not interested in serving, but they are interested in stealing money,” he said.

On top of that, Dr Mahathir also remarked that the people were well-informed that Pejuang was sincere in running the country.

“We obey the rules. We obey the law. We do not go against the law,” he said during his walkabout with Pejuang candidate in Sepang, Datin Che Asmah Ibrahim at Dengkil Morning Market earlier today.
