SHAH ALAM - Sepang Pejuang candidate Datin Che Asmah Ibrahim said postponing the 15th General Election (GE15) shows that some parties are reaping the benefits of holding an election.

"If they decide to postpone, it is very obvious that the purpose of having an election is to give an advantage to certain quarters.

"If that particular area has a terrible flood and needs to declare an emergency, then only that area needs to postpone the election. The other area can proceed," she said during her campaign trail at Dengkil Morning Market.

The Pejuang candidate added that putting off the GE15 would be seen as unfair.

"I think people would be furious if they (government) postpone it because earlier, everyone had warned not to do the election during the monsoon season, but they insisted on proceeding.

"Perhaps, when they feel like they are not getting the right support at this moment, they want to call off the election.

"Now people just could not wait to cast their vote because of the arrogant way the government announced wanting to do the election during the monsoon season," she said.

Che Asmah added she had profusely mentioned on national television and warned the government to hold elections during this period.

"I have appeared on media outlets to speak out on floods, the climate change impact and predictions that it's going to be a bad monsoon.

"We warned the government, but they arrogantly said no, they are willing to vote and campaign in the rain, so be it," she told Sinar Daily.

Recently, there had been rumours that the polling day could be postponed due to the monsoon season.
