KUALA LUMPUR - Politics is for everyone regardless of their background.
Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the practice of only allowing people with political backgrounds or connections to become the people's representatives should end.
" In some NGO's and normal people could not enter politics as it is only limited to politicians and those with a political backgrounds.
"But in GTA, people with multi-faceted backgrounds including the NGOs are allowed to participate in the political scene," he said at the Pejuang speech campaign here, today.
Dr Mahathir added that every Malaysian has the right to participate in the politics of the country because the action of politicians will have an impact on the people.
"Everyone has the right to be involved in politics so that they can influence the policies and actions that will be taken by the government."
