KAJANG - DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke urges Malaysians to give Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a chance to govern the country and become the 10th Prime Minister.

This, he said was because the previous prime ministers have failed to solve the problems of the people throughout their governance.

“We (DAP) urge voters to give Anwar a chance to become Prime Minister.

“The other candidates have been challenged and they have revealed their own failures and the problems faced by the country have yet to be resolved,” he told reporters during a walkabout programme, here, today.

Asked about Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin denying Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan’s remarks on the Barisan Nasional (BN)-PN cooperation, Loke said this was due to the mess in PN itself.

He said he felt like it had always been Takiyuddin’s intention but the latter made a mistake.

“This is the mess that happened in PN, I feel like what has been said by Takiyuddin has always been their intention but tactically, he has made a mistake and that is the reason why Muhyiddin had to deny it,” he said.

Loke also reminded voters that if they wanted to go against BN, they should not support PN, but support PH instead.

“If you want to go against BN, do not support PN because they are the same. Support PH instead,” he said.

Takiyuddin who will be defending the Kota Bharu seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) was reported to have said that PN was confident of forming a coalition government with other parties, especially BN.

He said the coalition could be formed with other parties but would not accept PH.

Muhyiddin however denied that the party would merge with BN after GE15 as claimed by Takiyuddin.

He said he has never instructed Takiyuddin to negotiate with BN for the purpose of forming a government after the election.

In a statement yesterday, Takiyuddin said his statement was taken out of context and that he was fully confident that PN will be able to form a government alone and the prime minister is from PN.
