Altantuya's murder case: RM100 million lawsuit decision on Dec 16

SHAH ALAM - The decision of the RM100 million lawsuit filed by the family of slain Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu over her death, is set by the High Court here on Dec 16.
The family's lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo said the decision will be delivered by Court of Appeal judge Datuk Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera via an online proceeding.
Vazeer was the trial judge in the suit filed by the deceased’s father Shaariibuu Setev, his wife Altantsetseg Sanjaa and their two grandsons Mungunshagai Bayarjargal and Altanshagai Munkhtulga against chief inspector Azilah Hadri, Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda and the government.
"The court previously set the case to be decided on Oct 19, but it was postponed to another date.
"The new date is set for Dec 16," she said when contacted.
The family filed the suit on June 4, 2007, claiming that the model’s death had caused them mental and psychological trauma.
In the statement of claim, they were seeking damages, including dependency claims.
However, Altanshagai Munkhtulga's name was later removed from the list of plaintiffs when he died in 2017.
A total of 26 plaintiff witnesses, including Altantuya's father and her eldest son, testified in the trial which began in 2019.
The defendants presented three witnesses. However, Abdul Razak who was initially called to testify in the suit refused to do so.
