'Vote to stop irresponsible politicians from running the country like its their father's' - Anwar

AMPANG - Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says it was time to change the political landscape of the country to curb corruption and to ensure those irresponsible do not run the country as if it is their "father's".

He said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had called for nationwide emergency for several months, without any transparency. "Now he says he was the best prime minister."

"I urge all of you to save this country. This mean it involves the rakyat," he said as the nation votes on Nov 19.

Anwar further said people have been coming forward in rain and shine to show PH support and to save the country.

He further said DAP has been criticised repeatedly but have not asked for any position from him. "But Muhyiddin had appointed almost 70 ministers (and deputy ministers)."

Anwar further spoke on cost of living as prices of food items increase but "70 ministers with RM70,000 salary each."

He said economy needs to be managed well. "The federal government could not do anything but Selangor state had taken initiatives to reduce cost of food."

A day after polls, Anwar further said the needs of farmers needs would also need to looked into to ensure their profits increase.

He further spoke on Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, the Bersatu candidate in Gombak. 'Traitors should be pushed out," he told a packed crowd at PH-Selangor level ceramah.

He spoke on Malay and Islamic government, stating he would support such a government if it was clean and was fair to all races.

Anwar also said with another three days to go before polls, the ground support was shifting towards Pakatan Harapan as people want change.

11pm - DAP's Anthony Loke says a prime minister should be a man with "stamina" to meet world leaders, to attract investors and to manage the country.

He said Anwar, 73 is full of stamina and has been visiting voters nationwide. "Unlike a candidate in Bera is always in Bera," he said.

He further questioned if BN is multiracial as they have Wee Ka Siong and M Saravanan. "Who do you want? Wee Ka Siong or Anthony Loke? You want Saravanan or Gobind Singh," he asked a packed crowd during the ceramah.

He further said Malaysia should be united. "I am a Chinese, Gobind Singh is a Singh but we are together to build a strong Malaysia.

"But our opposition say the Chinese want power. If we are communist, Hadi Awang has hugged Lim Guan Eng, Lim Kit Siang."

He further said the country's premier will be a Malay but "we want a capable and intellectual Malay. So that we are rescpected worldwide."

10.35pm - DAP's heavyweight Gobind Singh Deo called on voters to show their power through votes.

"Remember the power of rakyat is powerful to choose a capable government," he said.

Furthermore, he told voters anti-hopping laws will not allow irresponsible politicians to jump ship anymore.

10.27pm - Muda's Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman assured youths that Malaysia will be have the best five years if they vote for PH.

"We will prove that the five years is the best five years. Give us a chance because I believe the PH team will focus on youths," he told youths during the ceramah.

10.15pm - Setiawangsa candidate Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad says there are some who think they are closer to God.

"There are some who seem to have a direct line with God. They seem to knows who will go to hell," he said.

Nik Nazmi was referring to a recording of Sik Pas Youth chief Shahiful Nasir who had apologised for saying those who vote for PH and BN will go to hell.

He also touched on Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor sexiest remark who said women are not capable of being a state assemblyman.

Nazmi said: "This is not 1920's lah. This is 2020's"


10pm - Bandar Kuching DAP candidate Kelvin Yii says voters should not "stabilise" a party that does not respect Malaysians.

"We do not want to stabilise corruption, we do not stabilise incompetency.

"Why stabilise a party that has no respect different races," he said during ceremah.

9.45pm - Lembah Pantai candidate Fahmi Fadzil said it is time to remember "this fever of democracy" as supporters chanted reformasi.

He told hundreds of supporters in Gombak and Ampang "those who do not want to vote, tell them this is the time to vote.

"We live in strange times. There is shortage of cooking oil, eggs even LRT is not functioning. And the prime minister, who is the prime minister," he said referring to the frequent change of prime minister since Sheration move in 2020.

He said people do not have a choice but to go out to vote on Nov 19.

9.30pm - Chants of Reformasi filled the air as Amanah president Mohamad Sabu started his speech in Ampang, stating Malaysians could have a new life in three days on Saturday, Nov 19.

He said there will not be racial issues. "It seems the Chinese want to take over the country. This is a cheap tactic to play up the Malay sentiments.

"When Malays hate Chinese or vice versa, to play up such issues, its easy for the Malay to steal," he said during a mega ceramah, here.

Mohamad commonly known as Mat Sabu said there are so many unresolved issues such as the murder of deputy public procecutor Kevin Morias in 2015.

He further told the crowd that Umno is "broken", citing example of Arau candidate Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim who left Umno to contest under Perikatan Nasional in the15th general elections.

He said now Sungai Buloh candidate Khairy Jamaluddin wants to be the prime minister. "You are young and you will be infected with their (Umno's) disease."

He also touched on Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor court cases linked to corruption which could see her prisoned if charged. "We will see Romeo and Juliet in jail," he said to loud chants of reformasi.

Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was sentenced to 12 year prison in August.

The Kota Raja candidate urged Malaysians to vote for PH to ensure the country is run well and free from corruption.
