KOTA BHARU - "I had never approved any of my children to contest in any election except on a Pas (Islamic Party of Malaysia) ticket," said Datin Tuan Sabariah Tuan Ishak.

This was addressed to her son Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz who contested on the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket in Pasir Salak Parliament, Perak in the 15th General Election (GE15).

“Tuan Guru (Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat) and I have educated our children since childhood to remain steadfast in the Islamic fight with the Pas party," she said through a post uploaded on the Central Pas Facebook page on Wednesday.

In GE15, Nik Omar would face oppositions Zairol Hizam Zakaria (GTA), Jamaludin Yahya (PN) and Khairul Azwan Harun (BN).

Previously, in the last GE14, Nik Omar contested on PKR ticket in Chempaka State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

In the last general election, Pas candidate Ahmad Fathan Mahmood won with a majority of 3,474 defeating Nik Omar (PKR) and Mohamad Fareez Noor Amran (BN).
