Flood: 848 victims affected in six districts in Selangor

SHAH ALAM - The number of flood victims in Selangor recorded a total of 848 victims involving 208 families as of 8am on Thursday.

Selangor Civil Defence Force (APM) Disaster Management Committee Secretariat In a statement informed that up to now 10 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) have been opened in six districts in the state involving Petaling, Klang, Hulu Langat, Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Sepang.

The statement stated that Petaling district recorded the highest evacuation with a total of 433 victims from 104 families evacuated in two PPS.

"Two PPS were opened, namely at the Putra Height Mosque which recorded the evacuation of a total of 227 victims from 51 families and at Dewan Camelia Putra Height a total of 210 victims from 53 families," he said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement said that two PPS in Klang were opened which involved a total of 293 victims from 64 families.

A total of 195 victims from 49 families were transferred to PPS Kampung Johan Setia Mosque and a total of 58 victims from another 15 families to PPS Kampung Jalan Kebun MPKK hall, Batu 7 in Klang.

The statement informed that two more PPSs were opened in the Hulu Langat district which recorded a total of 29 victims from seven families transferred to PPS Sekolah Kebangsaan Ulu Semenyih, however the number of victims and families at PPS Balai Raya Bangi Lama is still being updated.

The statement also informed that two PPSs were opened in the Sabak Bernam district, namely at PPS Dewan Bagan Nakhoda Omar and PPS Simpang Lima.

In addition, a PPS was opened in the Kuala Selangor district at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Jeram involving 116 victims from 30 families.

"While in the Sepang district, a PPS was opened at the Gemilang Public Hall, Taman Gemilang.

"However, the number of victims and families in the PPS is being updated," said the statement.
