#BantuanBencana: Sinar Karangkraf collaborates with Pharmaniaga to help flood victims

SHAH ALAM - Sinar Karangkraf adds creativity to their #BantuanBencana Kits by including medicine and sending them out earlier this year.
Sinar Karangkraf Head of Marketing and Branding, Nik Justin Nik Mohd Ariffin said that learning from past experiences in flood relief, the company have decided to think outside the box this year by distributing the disaster relief kits before the floods even take place.
"The idea is to bring the items to them first before the floods hit them. So, if they have to move to the Flood Evacuation Centres, they will already have the items required," he explained.
Instead of regular donations of things like rice and food items, Sinar Karangkraf has decided to include items they realised flood victims may need more such as medicine, supplements, diapers and dried food.
"We want to give things that matter to them during their hardship and for this, we have collaborated with Pharmaniaga where they are donating Vitamin C and paracetamol for us to distribute to those who may need it soon,” added Nik Justin.
Pharmaniaga Chief Communication and Consumer Marketing Officer, Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah said that these two items are very important for flood victims to stay healthy while going through difficult times.
He said that Vitamin C can help boost the body's immunity which is helpful to flood victims, considering the unsanitary water and inconducive environments they have to endure. It can also help prevent illnesses, which is another priority.
"As for Actimol, we know it as paracetamol. So, for headaches, fevers or mild illnesses, this is the main medicine used," he said.
Aside from the collaboration with Sinar Karangkraf, Pharmaniaga is also ready to help where possible through its own Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
"Our employees are stationed all over Malaysia and we already have a plan on how to help flood victims as we know where the hotspots are," said Najmuddin.
This is the first time that both companies have collaborated in a disaster relief effort.
Sinar Karangkraf is targeting to distribute 100,000 #BantuanBencana Kits to flood victims. The disaster relief effort is expected to begin next week after the general election.
